How can three little letters be so hard to say or do?
I have always had a hard time asking for help. Is it too much pride, too much ego, too much fear? Actually, I feel like it's a little bit of three and what's ironic, is that I want to raise awareness for a rare neurological condition and ask for donations to help support a nonprofit set up for children who suffer from Intracranial Hypertension (IH).
This is an invisible often chronic condition that is near to my heart. Intracranial Hypertension is a chronic often times debilitating condition that needs to be placed in the spotlight. It's victims suffer silently and alone.

September was Intracranial Hypertension Awareness Month. It's also called Pseudotumor Cerebri (PTC) which literally means false brain tumor. IH or PTC is when the body over produces cerebrospinal fluid and the overabundance of fluid causes pressure on the brain and/or optic nerve. The symptoms are wide and varied but mostly include vision problems and headaches. IH / PTC can effect ANYONE at ANYTIME. There aren't any early warning signs or a test that will tell if you are susceptible to it. This is an incurable and rare disorder that affects 1 or 2 children out of every 100,000 kids.
I am asking for your support to help spread the word about Intracranial Hypertension. IHope for a cure in the very near future but until that time IHope for medication or treatment that will relieve some of the pain that IH children have to suffer on a regular basis.
Will you please help me support a great informal nonprofit that caters to children with Intracranial Hypertension. IH Kiddos Secret Pals is a group of mothers and/or adult IH / PTC sufferers who send encouraging cards and gifts to this disorder's youngest victims. Because my family is personally effected by this I am making it my mission to help this small in number but BIG in heart nonprofit reach it's goals of providing comfort and support to children who suffer from IH / PTC.
