The Habit of Starting
I began!
You might ask, began what?
I began my future and my present. I acted instead of thinking. I made plans & commitments. They are small and fluid BUT I began.
I read The Habit of Starting of Starting from Leo Babauta and it got me going. I had already started pinpointing my resolutions and I did my morning stretches. I wrote in my journal and I told myself to cut out negative thinking when I felt a habitual mean thought enter my brain. I had already done all of this good to my spirit, to myself and I was so ready to discount my small strides because it didn't feel like enough.
Then I ran across this passage that I printed back on September 11th, 2012. I believe that all things happen for a reason and I printed this so long ago for today. This is what I took from it: the key to forming habit is starting each day.
It doesn't matter what I do as along as I do it and do it to my best that day.

Promise #1 - Less T.V.
In my attempt to BE better I've decided to cut my t.v. time down. I've been throwing around the idea of downsizing cable and watching t.v. less. but if I do then I would have to do something. So all week I been wondering what small step could I take to start living the way of my dreams and that is simply watch less t.v. This is a great place to start because it sound easy enough but could be so pivotal in everything that I want. I've thrown this idea around for years but never was brave enough to actually carry it out.
T.V. is my safe haven, my companion, my teacher, my fun zone, my time waster. How much could I get done if Isimply turned the boob tube off. My biggest excuse is that I don't have time. My 2nd excuse is that I don't feel like it. If I turned off my biggest distraction how many hours would I have free what could I accomplish if I had to time to feel like it.
So far, since I made this decision late this afternoon I've read the 1st chapter of a new book, started cooking dinner and now I'm typing this. Compared to watching 2 movies this morning and accomplishing nothing on my to do list. So, my rules simple:
1) log what I watch & when (I do have favorite shows that I enjoy)
2) cut down (then out) mindless t.v. time
3) to get STUFF done

Grateful Day #2
You ever have one of "those" days? You know the day. The day when you wake up to NO heat in your house a week before Christmas or the one where your car doesn't want to stay on and cuts off on you in the middle of the road on a Monday morning on your way to a work meeting. Or the day when you come home from a work meeting and realize that your flea problem is worse than you thought it was and an exterminator is needed ASAP.
Oh wait a minute, that was my day today. What a horrible, stinking, defeating morning!
Several times I had to remind myself to breathe and remain calm. To think of the little things. The things that I take for granted. The things I should be most thankful for. My home, my car (that did get me to my Monday morning meeting and back home). To be grateful that I woke up yet another morning. Another morning(opportunity) that I ordinarily would not have thought too much about.
So to the universe & the heavens, I say thank you. Thank you for lending me another 24 hours to right my wrongs, learn something new, talk to my family and just BE.

Grateful Day #1
Okay, so today I'm grateful that I checked off the top 5 things on my to-do list, I started to catch & stop myself from thinking negatively and I've decided to finally set my goals and achieve. Writing this post of a small step in the process but now that I'm typing this is the the farthest from want I want but since I put it on my to-do list I had to check it off.
So I'm done so I can finish watching the Survivor Finale.

Hello November #9
My favorite Quote:
The obstacle is the path - A Zen proverb
To me this resonates because that which is harming me, holding me back and/or stunting my growth is what I need to "deal" with in order to continue on my journey in this life. A person shouldn't run from their problems but to them for clarity on which direction I should go.
I need to confront my problems & insecurities, that is the only way.

Hello November Day #8
Ok, so I was looking around the internet for a 30 day blog challenge and stumbled onto this one from Kristazzi
This is just what I was looking for so I'm going to dive right in: Day 8, Worst Habits
1) Procrastination
2) Laziness
3) Pessimism
4) Glass Half Empty vs. Half Full mentality
Throughout my life I've struggled with these but have never really dealt with them. Well at the age of 40 I'm finally ready to put them away. They have served their purpose in my life and now I want to replace them with:
1) Ambition
2) Motivation
3) Optimism
4) Half Full outlook vs. Half Empty

Macon, Georgia #15
During my April break this year My daughter & I went on a quest to find Honey Boo and it took us through Macon, GA. When we left our house on April 3rd we 1st stopped in Mcdonough then Irwinton and finally in McIntyre when Honey Boo Boo lives. We then doubled back and spent the evening in Macon.
Our first stop was at Ocmulgee National Monument.
This was our first visit to an Indian mound, although Georgia is known for a few of them. They were really cool and big.You could go in this and walk to others that were not opened. National Parks are free to enter so what better way to pass the time, view nature and see something new & interesting.
2nd stop was to Fort Hawkins but unbeknownst to me it was closed.
It's open on the weekends & is also always free. It's coined as being the "birth place of Macon".
It was starting to rain so we decided to go check into our hotel and end our day at Carrabba's. We got up the next day and went to tour downtown Macon and visit the Visitor Information Center. This place even has a mini movie on Macon and what makes it so special.
Believe it or not, visiting a Bass Pro Shop has been something that I've wanted to do for a while so when I found out that Macon had one, I put it on the list. Other than the sporting goods purchases that you make it's absolutely free to go in, take pictures and enjoy the creativity of marketing. (remember picture to come).
I enjoyed Macon and want to go back to visit all of the many museums that it has to offer.

Acworth, GA #19
Old Dixie Hwy Yard Sale on June 8, 2013. I found so many bargains & deals that I've already promised myself that I'm going again next year. Hopefully I can get further like the whole 90 miles. We (myself, daughter, 2 cousins, aunt, sister & nephew went about 50 miles but the time just went so fast that we couldn't finish the course. We started off at 8 a.m. and threw in the towel around 5:30p

Atlanta Steeplechase April 13th, 2013.
My daughter & great friend Ana joined me at the 48th Annual horse race. It was a day full of firsts.

1) First time at the races
2) First time the 3 of us hung out together
3) First picnic of the year
4) First time I got my daughter to wear a hat
Unfortunately, most people don't go to this race for the race but it's still a great family opportunity. Remember to pack your lunch and blankets.

Irwinton, Georgia - #12
Wow, what can I say about Irwinton.......
On my way to Mcintyre, I had to ride through Irwinton and I literally was in and out of that town before I even realized it.

The population was 583 in the 2010 census..need I say more?

Decatur, Georgia (Fulton County) #11
My 1st juice bar = nectar in Decatur
I got a wheat grass shot & "the green of the day". I've had wheat grass before so that wasn't a shock but the juice was. Would I juice again? Absolutely! But maybe I'll start off slow and get one with a little more fruit.
Next stop the Dekalb Farmer's Market. This was my 2nd time here and just as memorable. Anything exotically grown can be bought here. This is definitely a must do at least once in your life. A great time to go is right before your regular grocery shopping or if your need to buy ingredients for an ethnic meal.
My son(18) & daughter(11) had an enjoyable time. I give both of these 1 thumb up.

Less than a year away my self imposed 101 in 1,001 challenge will be over. I'm sad to say that I haven't made this a focal point in my life. I wanted to, I intended to but I didn't!
May 15, 2014 is my deadline, I better get moving
